There were 4 of us. Ridiculous heroes, of a type rock no longer sees. I must say that I hated Rock. There were 4 of us : Jean-Charles who tried hard to sing when everybody else was angry and shouted, Gilbert who made himself a complicated guitar and played just as complicated music, Olivier whose jazzy and umpredictable style made most people shake, and me, Guillaume, the guy who tried hard to be like everyone else and above all not to learn to play bass. There were 4 of us and wed known each other for a very long time. Jean-Charles & me since primary school, then Gilbert & Olivier at junior school. It was those two who started making noise together. Several bands came before Shatter the myth. Four of us plus a guy called Franck were Regurgitated Ghost, and after Nork, then Timez up. We did a gig with all these bands, but this is about Shatter the myth. It was Franck who came up with the name. We rehearsed, as we had been doing for a very long time. We also started writing songs, with lyrics first in English, then in french. Our notoriety began with a concert, as with many heroes. It took place in the legendary Garage in Orléans, and was the first of a long and evenful series. On that day, the 12th of december 1992, major bands from Orléans played to collect money for Lyons squatters, who where on judgment. On stage that night : DCA, Rabia, Sea shepherd, Flys fucker & QQQ. We played at the end of the afternoon in front of a small crowd. After this first experience, we played a few months later in a pub in Orléans with a band named Lost Reason. Loiseau from Escaped organised this event. Almost a week later, our moment of glory arrived, when we were asked to play in Poitiers with a mythic Californian band Spitboy. The band programmed originaly had cancelled at the last minute. Quite a funny night, the 5th of april 1993, I cant remember it very well. Next, we played in some concerts around Mantes-la-jolie & Orléans, with all our friends : Sea Shepherd, Automia Indigena, Undone, Fingerprint, Andana, Vanilla, Ivich ; and with differnets bands from all Europe : Kitchener, Health Hazard, Traumatism, Wounded Knee Our last concert was in Tours in june 1994. White shirt & short hair for me for the first time and bare feet for Gilbert as usual. We played with Rawness and Disaffect. It was a nice farewell concert, with a lot of our friends. We had to split Shatter the myth because of Gilberts departure for California. Like every Rock heroes we wanted to make our sound immortal. We only record twice. First in a studio were we recorded the songs for our 7 and two other ones. One was supposed to be released with a compilation against racism, from which we never heard again, and another one for a compilation made by Christophe on his Stonehenge label, but we prefer to give a more recent one. We did a second recording cession with Gilles from Escape on the 8 in our practice studio, in the basement of Guillaumes parentshouse. With the four songs of this recording we made a split 7 with Undone. Weve also been on a mythic compilation named Reconstruction, from the Stonehenge Label, with all our friends bands, and on an as mythic compilation XXX, on the american Label Ebullition. On this last one, because of a DAT error, it was a title from our split with Undone which was put on instead of the one originaly planned. But nobody noticed it neither knew anything until today.

HARDCORE. Behind the comical name hides a short lived project with US-citizen Andrew from FLOODGATE, C AMPAIGN and FISTICUFFS BLUFF and former/recent members of the following German bands: DEAD BEAT, NARSAAK, STACK, PRONE, BASTARD KING, GOLDEN GORILLA and BLACK SHAPE OF NEXUS. The 7″ features 4 distorted brutal psychotic and noisy hardcore tracks with calm emotional moments. They didn’t got any attention because they never played live and just managed to do this 7″.
